The problem on my side is being able to adequately express my appreciation for you and others being so thoughtful and kind over the past few weeks. I shall never forget.

And thank you for the lovely quote from Hesse. You are exactly right: it is comforting, and it does articulate (better than I can) thoughts that I have been having, and tried to get at (inadequately) in the post.

As always, it is very good to hear from you.Stephen Pentzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14882220887712092005noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5010170380967519230.post-54165374483478196362014-03-23T17:36:07.555-07:002014-03-23T17:36:07.555-07:00E Berris: that's very nice of you to say -- th...E Berris: that's very nice of you to say -- thank you very much. I feel that I've barely skimmed the surface of what's out there. But I'll keep at it.

I do like Hopkins's poetry, but I confess that I don't return to him as often as I ought to. For instance, nearly every spring and fall "Pied Beauty" pops into my head. (And, yes, of course: "Spring and Fall.") I realize that these are sort of his anthology pieces, and that there are depths far beyond them. You have now prompted me to visit my copy of his Collected Poems this evening!

Thank you for stopping by again.Stephen Pentzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14882220887712092005noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5010170380967519230.post-48347813842045165962014-03-23T14:59:38.961-07:002014-03-23T14:59:38.961-07:00Dear Mr Pentz,

I keep thinking of G.M.Hopkins' poetry, which I always find expresses what I feel and prompts me to what I would rather feel, so is unexpectedly soothing. But you may not like Hopkins?
E Berrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15444426908291693984noreply@blogger.com
